ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND SOCIAL MEDIA

The following procedures apply to all devices used at the centre, as well as social media platforms used to promote or share about SJRC. Due to the rapidly changing nature of technology and media today, this policy cannot lay down rules to cover every situation. Instead, it expresses this organisation's philosophy applied to the use of electronic devices and social media platforms.

  1. You can have access to one or more forms of electronic devices or services.

  2. Use of devices and social media can be effective in communicating and are valuable sources of information. However, the purpose must always be to facilitate company business.

  3. Devices provided by the organisation as well as access to media must be used for the betterment of the overall goals and purpose of SJRC. Limited use for personal business is understandable, but users must show a sense of responsibility and not abuse this.

Staff and students are prohibited from using electronic devises for the purpose of:

  1. Knowingly transmitting or retrieving any communications of a discriminatory or harassing nature.

  2. Activities for the purpose of conducting a personal business venture.

  3. Actions or activities undertaken on behalf of, or acting as an agent for, a non-business related and unapproved organisation, company, agency, or individual.

  4. Activities that are illegal under, or intended to circumvent, federal, state, local or foreign laws.

  5. Activities and content that are unethical or could result in the establishment of a hostile work environment, including inappropriate language and jokes, chain letters, pornography, threats, and harassment. This includes but is not limited to any activities and content that include anything that is inflammatory, obscene, profane, defamatory, abusive, hateful or embarrassing to another person or entity

  6. Activities that could damage the company’s professional reputation.
